Notice Regarding Adjustments in Chinese Visa Application Procedures for Foreign Nationals

Effective immediately, the Chinese government adopts the following adjustments in Chinese visa application regulations for foreign nationals belonging to the following categories:

1.) Foreign nationals bearing valid invitation letters issued by Chinese national or central government institutions, provincial foreign affairs offices or commerce departments, central enterprises or foreign affairs departments of municipal governments, can apply for the corresponding type of visa from the Chinese Visa Application Service Center.

2.) Those travelling to China for work purposes may apply for a work visa with a valid “Foreigner’s Work Permit” or the “Foreigner Work Permit Notice”. Family members of the aforementioned individuals (including foreigners who are currently working in China) may apply for visas to live with or visit relatives in China by providing proof of kinship and other relevant materials. Family members include spouses, parents, children under the age of 18, and parents of spouses.

3.) Family members of Chinese citizens and foreigners with permanent residency status in China may apply for family visitation or reunification visas with proof of kinship and other application materials. Family members in this case include spouses, parents, parents-in-law, children, spouses of children, siblings, grandparents, and grandchildren.

Visa applicants belonging to the aforementioned categories are to have completed COVID-19 vaccinations approved by China, or by the World Health Organization for emergency or market use, before entry.
