On May 12, a major earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale jolted Wenchuan County in southwest China's Sichuan Province and has caused enormous casualties and property damage. Up until now, nearly 15,000 lives were lost and about twice as many people are feared to have still been buried in the rubble. The Chinese Embassy in Finland has received many calls and mails expressing sympathy and sorrow, and inquiring on how to donate to relieve the people in the earthquake-stricken areas.
