On 21st May, Ambassador Wang Tongqing met with Mr. Kai Mykkänen, new Mayor of Espoo, and exchanged views on local exchanges between China and Finland, among others.
Mayor Mykkänen welcomed Ambassador Wang for another visit to Espoo. He mentioned that with Espoo’s prosperous development in economy, trade, science, innovation and education industries, as well as the high level of internationalization and a relatively big scale of local Chinese community, Espoo maintains close relations with its sister city Shanghai. He expressed Espoo’s willingness to harness the cooperation potential with China in fields including clean tech, sustainable development, education, culture, etc., so as to further deepen its cooperation with Shanghai.
Ambassador Wang commended Espoo for its business, education, science & technology innovation and environmental protection, as well as the fruitful achievements in its cooperation with Shanghai, mentioning that during the past six months, President Alexander Stubb and Speaker Jussi Halla-aho have taken turns to visit Shanghai, window of China’s reform and opening-up. Ambassador Wang welcomes Espoo to further broaden its cooperation with China and its sister city relations with Shanghai, so as to promote a closer bond between the two peoples of China and Finland.
