On Oct 10th, Ambassador Wang Tongqing visited the Åland Islands upon the latter's invitation, during which he met with Speaker of the Åland Parliament Jörgen Pettersson, Premier of the Åland Government Katrin Sjögren, Chair of Mariehamn City Executive Board Michele Ferrari, among others, learning about the operation of Åland's autonomous system, exchanging views with the hosts on China-Finland relations and Åland's cooperation with China. Both parties believe that the Åland Islands, with its favorable geographical location and thriving agriculture, maritime transport and tourism, enjoy great potential in its cooperation with China. Both parties are ready to strengthen their friendly communication and broaden their practical cooperation.

The trip was arranged by the Åland Islands for foreign Ambassadors accredited to Finland, and was also participated by Ambassadors of Chile, Mexico, Portugal and Belgium. During the visit, the Ambassadors also toured the grit:lab tech education project, Åland Peace Institute and Åland Maritime Museum.
