On May 27, the Seventh ASEM Seminar on Urban Water Management was launched at Aalto University in Espoo, Finland, under the theme of "A Community of Life for Water and Urban: Science and Technology Empowering the Sustainability of Blue-Green Economy". Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Government of Hunan Province of China Mr. Mao Zhaohui, Director of International Innovation Partnerships at Business Finland Mr. Mika Klemettinen, Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Foundation Ms. Beata Stoczynska, Senior Management Expert for the UNDP Water and Ocean Goverance Support Programme Mr. Ahmed Abouelseoud, Chief Economist of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Mr. Erik Berglof and more than 100 representatives from 23 countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa participated in the seminar. Mr. Chen Huixin, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy, attended and addressed the seminar at the organizers’ invitation.
Mr. Chen extended his warm congratulations on the successful convening of the Seminar. He emphasized that urban water resource management is not only an important component of exchange and cooperation between China and Finland, but also critical content in global governance. He expressed his hope and confidence that the participants would pool their wisdom collectively to offer active recommendations, thereby providing robust intellectual support for global urban water management, especially the urban water management in the Asia-Europe region.
