Li Keqiang Arrives in Phnom Penh to Attend the 2nd LMC Leaders' Meeting and Pay Official Visit to Cambodia

On the afternoon of January 10, 2018 local time, Premier Li Keqiang arrived in Phnom Penh by special plane to jointly attend the 2nd Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Leaders' Meeting held here with leaders of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar. After his attendance at the meeting, Li Keqiang will pay an official visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia.

Deputy Prime Minister Hor Nam Hong, Head of the Hosting Team and Senior Minister and Minister of Industry and Handicraft Cham Prasidh of Cambodia and others greeted Li Keqiang at the airport. The guard of honor lined up on both sides of the red carpet near the cabin door. Li Keqiang warmly shook hands with Cambodian officials. Local youths presented Li Keqiang a wristband made of jasmine flowers in accordance with the traditional etiquette, and sang as well as danced joyfully to express their warm welcome. Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Xiong Bo and others also greeted Li Keqiang at the airport.

Li Keqiang expressed that the Lancang-Mekong River connects the six countries together and also binds their destiny together. Since its launching, the LMC mechanism has achieved rapid development and fruitful results as it accords with the region's common wish to seek development and unity as well as promote development. The Chinese side is willing to work with all related parties to jointly review the progress in cooperation and plan its future development, so as to smoothly push forward the mechanism from its nurturing period into the growing period and inject fresh impetus into regional development and prosperity.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Cambodia are good friends and good partners who treat each other sincerely and always value friendship and righteousness with mutual respect, equal treatment and mutual support. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cambodia diplomatic relations. I am looking forward to, through this visit, talking about friendship and discussing cooperation with the Cambodian side in efforts to jointly write a new chapter of China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, better benefit the two peoples, and promote common development.

On the sidelines of his attendance at the 2nd LMC Leaders' Meeting, Li Keqiang will, together with leaders of the five countries along the Mekong River, discuss the undertakings of future cooperation, visit the exhibition of the LMC achievements, meet the press, and will also hold bilateral meetings with some attending state leaders.

During his visit to Cambodia, Li Keqiang will meet with King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia, hold talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia, and witness the signing of bilateral cooperation documents covering politics, economy and trade, health, forestry, agriculture and people-to-people and cultural engagement, as well as attend relevant supporting activities.
