The 2nd LMC Leaders' Meeting Convenes

On January 10, 2018 local time, the 2nd Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Leaders' Meeting was convened in Phnom Penh. Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia co-chaired the meeting.

Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos, Vice President U Myint Swe of Myanmar, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of Thailand and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam attended the meeting.

Under the theme of "Our River of Peace and Sustainable Development", the meeting would review the progress of the LMC, plan the direction of future development, and promote the LMC from nurturing period to growing period smoothly.

After the meeting, the leaders of China and Cambodia will jointly meet the press and introduce the situation and specific results of the meeting.

Two important cooperation documents, namely, the Five-Year Plan of Action of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (2018-2022) and the Phnom Penh Declaration of the Second Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting would be released at the meeting. The List of the Second Batch of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Projects and the Reports of the Six Joint Working Groups of Priority Areas would be distributed.

The first LMC Leaders' Meeting was held in Sanya of Hainan Province in March, 2016. The meeting announced the birth of the LMC mechanism.
